Student Responsible Use of Technology

Trussville City Schools provides students with access to a wide range of communication and information technologies, including computers, networks, and the Internet. When used responsibly, these tools support our mission of educational excellence by enhancing resource sharing, collaboration, innovation, and communication.

To ensure technology is used safely and ethically, all students are expected to follow the district’s Responsible Use Guidelines. These guidelines are designed to protect students, staff, and the integrity of our systems by promoting awareness and setting clear expectations for digital behavior.

While misuse of technology can have serious consequences, Trussville City Schools believes the educational value of digital resources and online learning opportunities far outweighs the potential risks—especially when supported by strong digital citizenship practices.

To promote responsible use of technology, all students are required to review the district’s Responsible Use Guidelines during online registration. Students must acknowledge that they have received and understand the expectations outlined for proper use of the computer, network, and Internet systems.

As part of reviewing the Student Code of Conduct, parents or legal guardians are also required to acknowledge receipt and understanding of the Responsible Use Guidelines.

District employees who supervise students using the technology system will provide guidance and instruction to ensure students understand and practice appropriate, responsible use.
