A Message from Dr. Martin, Superintendent

A smiling man in a dark suit stands with his arm around a group of five elementary school children.

It is with great pride and appreciation that I reflect on the continued growth and success of Trussville City Schools.  The progress we’ve made as a school system is a shared achievement — one that highlights the strength of our students, staff, families, and community partners.  It cannot be stated enough how grateful our school system is to our outstanding community partners for their support in helping us grow. Our Trussville City Board of Education is fortunate to experience strong shared leadership opportunities with our Mayor and City Council. Each year, our administration, faculty, and staff can count on the assistance and support of the Trussville City Schools Foundation, Athletic Foundation, Band Boosters, and school PTOs. It goes without saying that our strong business community and Chamber of Commerce values and strongly supports the educational process. Having each of these entities is critical in fostering the magic that is an excellent teacher in every classroom and an excited, engaged learner in every seat. Together, we make this possible for the community of Trussville.

As Superintendent of Trussville City Schools, my goals have not changed. I work to collaborate with our administrative team and staff to support “Triple A Excellence” in each of our schools. We want our students and staff to excel in the areas of Academics, Athletics, and the Arts to ensure that they are well-rounded and prepared to be the leaders of tomorrow. As Superintendent, my focus has centered on five core areas:

  • Empowering the Board of Education Strategic Plan to serve as overarching system guide
  • Ensuring Safe and Secure School Sites that provide nurturing spaces for students to learn
  • Building Strong Central Office – Building Principal Relationships to foster learning
  • Prioritizing a Strong, Robust Capital Plan so that TCS learning spaces are second to none
  • Continuously Monitoring and Enhancing the “Husky Experience” for all school community members

July 1, 2025, will mark the 20th year of Trussville City Schools. While this will be a time to reminisce on all the outstanding achievements of the school system thus far, we also look to the next twenty years and all that is instore for our outstanding community. We want to continue to be a school system that provides opportunities for our students and staff to nurture their talents and interests, while ensuring they receive an outstanding education. We want to launch students into futures where they look fondly back on their years in Trussville and appreciate the commitment to excellence they were provided by a great city. Finally, we want our graduates and alumni to strongly consider raising their future families with us here in Trussville. We hope they will consider partnering with us to give their future students “Triple A Excellence” and a taste of the “Husky Experience.”
